The Grand Duchy of Nizhny Novgorod-Suzdal was an East Slavic principality formed in 1341. Its main towns were Nizhny Novgorod, Suzdal, Gorokhovets, Gorodets, and Kurmysh. Since 1350 Nizhny Novgorod has been the seat of the principality.
