Gonzalo Tancredi (born 3 August 1963) is an Uruguayan astronomer and associated professor in the Department of Astronomy at the University of the Republic in Montevideo, Uruguay. He is an active member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and investigator at Los Molinos Observatory.

His list of possible dwarf planets, along with that of Michael E. Brown, is commonly considered, along with the five dwarf planets recognized by the IAU – Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris – to be the dwarf planets of the Solar System. The Themistian asteroid 5088 Tancredi has been named after him.
