"God's Plan" is a 2018 song by Canadian musician Drake from his EP Scary Hours. The song beat Taylor Swift's record for the most streams in a single day in the US. On January 22, 2018, "God's Plan" beat Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" by reaching over 4.3 million views. The song also broke Apple's first-day streaming record. The song debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it Drake's fourth US number one, and second as a solo artist. It also debuted at number one in Canada, and atop the UK Singles Chart on January 26, 2018, giving Drake his second number-one single as lead artist there after "One Dance" (2016).
Following his 2016 album Views and 2017 playlist More Life, Drake announced the surprise release of two songs from the Scary Hours EP on January 19, 2018, with the full extended play to come shortly; those songs were "God's Plan" and "Diplomatic Immunity". Lyrically, the song describes Drake's awareness of people who want him to fail, but that God won't let him. The song also describes the separation Drake feels that he needs to have from those outside of his inner circle & how he feels that anyone who tries to work their way into his life must have an ulterior motive to benefit themselves.
In the United States, "God's Plan" debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on the chart dated February 3, 2018, becoming Drake's fourth Hot 100 number-one song. It achieved 82.4 million streams and 127,000 downloads in the country, in the week ending January 25. In the United Kingdom, "God's Plan" debuted at the top of the UK Singles Chart on January 26, 2018, for the week ending date February 1, 2018, in what had been expected to be a close race between Eminem and Ed Sheeran's "River" and Ramz's "Barking". Hugh McIntyre of Forbes wrote that the song "shockingly debuted at No.1 across the pond, proving Drake to be an artist with unparalleled power."
