Gilberts is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,279 at the 2000 census. The population has grown to 6,879 according to the 2010 census. The population continues to grow at rapid rates.
Gilberts was named for Amasa Gilbert, a pioneer settler.

According to the 2010 census, Gilberts has a total area of 5.558 square miles (14.40 km2), of which 5.55 square miles (14.37 km2) (or 99.86%) is land and 0.008 square miles (0.02 km2) (or 0.14%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,279 people, 394 households, and 351 families residing in the village. The population density was 398.0 people per square mile (153.8/km²). There were 398 housing units at an average density of 123.8 per square mile (47.9/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 95.86% White, 0.16% African American, 0.31% Native American, 1.64% Asian, 1.56% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races.
