Get Gorgeous


Get Gorgeous is an Indian reality television show and model talent search premiered in 2004 on by one of India’s music channels, Channel V India. The show, was formatted by the team headed by Kaveri Mehrotra while Amar Deb was the head of the channel."GG" discovers fresh new modeling talent. In season 1 the winners got a contract with Elite Modelling agency.

In the show’s first season, six thousand entries were received and 16 finalists were taken to Goa to be judged by designers Hemant Trivedi and Aparna Chandra, make-up artist Ambika Pillai, choreographers Tanya and Aparna Behl, fitness guru Mickey Mehta and lensman Sameer Parekh. The show’s four winners entered the modeling world by walking the ramp for designer Suneet Verma at the Milan Fashion Week.

Channel [V] India began Get Gorgeous IV on June 7, 2007. This year the show had 8 judges, including Samantha Kocchar, Alison Kanuga and Shantanu & Nikhil, who travelled with the 10 semi-finalists to the Swaswara resort in Goa for a modelling boot camp. The winner received a modelling contract with the Elite Model Management Agency. The 10 finalists of Get Gorgeous IV were:

Rachel emerged as the winner in the competition beating Nidhi, Rebecca, Arlette and Arika. The Grand Finale had approximately 1000 guests visiting the high-profile show including a number of celebrities. The anchor of the show was Channel V's VJ Pia Trivedi. During the taping of Get Gorgeous IV, Channel [V] allowed a blogger from the website www.trendy.in to live among the contestants and collect exclusive behind-the-scenes material for her video diaries and “The Gorgeous Blogger” blog.

Season 5 was the 2008 edition of the now hit show. Coming to an end on July 25, 2008, it was won by Iris Maity. The two runners-up were Gwen Athaid and Salome Polaki.This Season was hosted once again by Channel V's VJ Pia Trivedi. Supermodels, Diandra Soares and Gauhar Khan mentored the girls. This season was the most successful season of Get Gorgeous.It garnered an average of 10 million viewers.
