Gastão José Ministro Elias (Portuguese pronunciation: [gɐʃˈtɐ̃w eˈliɐʃ]; born 24 November 1990) is a Portuguese professional tennis player, who competes in the ATP World Tour. He became the fifth Portuguese tennis player to break into the top 100 of the Association of Tennis Professionals singles ranking. In October 2016, he reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 57, overcoming the career best of former player Rui Machado (No. 59) to become the second best-ranked Portuguese player ever, after João Sousa (No. 28).

Gastão Elias was born on 24 November 1990 in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. At age four started playing tennis with his father. In 2001 he participated in the national under-12 singles competition, falling to future Davis Cup partner João Sousa in the semifinals. Elias idolized James Blake and Roger Federer while growing up. He is supporter of Sporting Clube de Portugal, Real Madrid C.F. and Liverpool F.C.

2016 proved to be a breakthrough year for Gastão Elias. After winning ATP Challenger Tour tournament in Turin by defeating Enrique López-Pérez in three sets (3–6, 6–4, 6–2) and earning him position in Top 100 ATP ranking being ranked as 94th, Elias continued capitalizing on his Challenger Tour success as he won his sixth challenger title in Mestre, Italy by defeating Horacio Zeballos in straight sets (7–6, 6–2). In July 2016 Elias made his first splash on ATP World Tour tournament level in Bastad, Sweden after defeating Christian Lindell, Taro Daniel and pulling out upset against fellow compatriot João Sousa (6-2, 6-2) on his way to first ATP World Tour semifinal. However in semifinal Elias lost to Fernando Verdasco (3-6, 1-6). Later in July 2016 Elias participated in another ATP World Tour tournament in Umag, Croatia. Elias defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (6-1, 6-2) in round of 32 and then pulled one of the biggest upsets of the tournament by defeating first seeded Pablo Cuevas in a close encounter (3-6, 6-3, 7-6). That win marked Gastão Elias first win over Top 20 player of the tour. After that Elias defeated Pablo Carreno Busta (6-4, 6-4) and reached his second consecutive ATP World Tour semifinal where he lost to Fabio Fognini in straight sets (3-6, 3-6).
