Gagarinsky International Airport (Russian: Международный Аэропорт Гагаринский) is the airport that is under construction since 2015, which will finish in December 2018 and will commence it's operations in Q2 2019.

During Soviet Union time, Saratov became one of the largest cities in Russia. Unfortunately, because the current airport was inside the city, it's enlargement is impossible. All over the time, there were only plans of construction, this result was caused by collapse of USSR, and crisis in 1998 and 2014. In 2008, the government of Saratov, decided to choose Saburovka as the main land for the airport construction.

In 2014, "Airports of Regions" present a project of the new Saratov Airport. That time it was still unknown whether it is the one built on the old area, or on a different one. On January 2015, the construction of the airport has began. Currently, the terminal complex is being constructed. The total amount spent for the construction is from 10 to 7 billion rubles. It will be the second airport in Russia, that will be built from zero, after Platov International Airport in Rostov-on-Don, which also belongs to Airports of Regions.

"Airports of Regions" initially gave the current airport's name to the one, that is under construction, but in August, the constructors decided to call it "Gagarinsky". This has brought lots of misunderstanding, because Orenburg Airport is called with a relative name. The name of the airport might change, but temporarily, it is called with a current name.

The airport is going to be connected by a route that is next to the village (750 million rubles will be paid for construction and by a railway, which is also going to be built to form a commuter service for the habitations that are around Saratov, and new Aeroexpress route, for which the government plans to pay 2 billion rubles. The construction of a route to the airport will finish by the end of month
