Franklin is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,483 at the 2010 census. The town's namesake is Benjamin Franklin. The first settler in 1764, was Moses Butler, for whom Butler's Point is named{{}}. Principal products (in chronological order) have been ship masts, railroad ties, granite, blueberries, and Christmas trees.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 41.43 square miles (107.30 km2), of which 36.45 square miles (94.41 km2) is land and 4.98 square miles (12.90 km2) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,483 people, 652 households, and 411 families residing in the town. The population density was 40.7 inhabitants per square mile (15.7/km2). There were 1,043 housing units at an average density of 28.6 per square mile (11.0/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.3% White, 0.2% African American, 0.8% Native American, 0.7% Asian, and 1.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.6% of the population.

There were 652 households of which 26.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.9% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 37.0% were non-families. 26.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.73.
