Frances Robinson (actress)

Frances Robinson (April 26, 1916 - August 16, 1971) was an American actress. She is sometimes referred to as Frances Robinson-Duff.

Robinson was born Marion Frances Ladd in Fort Wadsworth, New York, on April 26, 1916.

At age 5, Robinson portrayed Little Henrietta in the silent film Orphans of the Storm (1921).

Her acting roles included Marcia in the 1941 version of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Robinson took vocal lessons in Germany and was a Wagnerian soprano. For 11 years, she acted with a theatrical company headed by Julia Marlowe.

Robinson also was described by newspaper columnist James Reston as "one of the most famous dramatic coaches in the country." He added, "Katherine (sic) Hepburn never starts a picture or sets foot on the boards without studying the part for at least a week under Miss Duff."

Robinson was married to Sonny Chalif, a nephew of actress Mary Pickford; and they had a son, Louis.

Robinson died in Los Angeles, California, on August 16, 1971.
