Fourah Bay is an overwhelmingly muslim majority neighborhood and it's known for its conservative Muslim population. Fourah Bay Is widely known for its rich Islamic culture and teachings based on Sunni Islam. Fourah Bay is home to a small but significant population of Salafi Sunni Muslims.
Many of the Muslim scholars in Fourah Bay studied Islam in Saudi Arabia, and some of the most conservative Muslim scholars in Fourah Bay are members of the Salafi branch of Sunni Islam.
One of Sierra Leone's most famous politicians, Mohamed Sanusi Mustapha (locally known as M.S. Mustapha) is a native of Fourah Bay.
