Forest Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Ela Township of Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,659 at the 2010 census.
Forest Lake is located at 42°12′28″N 88°3′13″W / 42.20778°N 88.05361°W (42.207824, -88.053475).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), of which 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (8.70%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,530 people, 536 households, and 423 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,421.6 people per square mile (937.7/km²). There were 547 housing units at an average density of 865.8/sq mi (335.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.08% White, 0.52% African American, 0.92% Asian, 0.92% from other races, and 1.57% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.84% of the population.
There were 536 households out of which 40.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.7% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.9% were non-families. 14.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.85 and the average family size was 3.19.
