Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) has the job of providing worldwide support to U.S. and coalition forces from their 24X7 Operations Center. It is located in Monterey, California.

FNMOC provides support with High Performance Computing (HPC) at all levels of classification, modeling the Global Atmosphere to Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance Standards, provides climatological support to Naval Operations, and executes Submarine Weather support.

FNMOC is composed of military and civilian personnel. The team consists of specialists in meteorology, oceanography, computer science, and Fleet operations. The team's efforts provide computerized weather and ocean prediction products, weather satellite imagery products and related tactical decision aids and data, supporting virtually every combat platform and weapons system operated by the U.S. Navy.

In 1958, the Navy Numerical Weather Problems (NANWEP) group was established in Suitland, MD. NANWEP was later moved to Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in 1959. Fleet Numerical Weather Facility was established in 1961. In 1974, Fleet Numerical Weather Facility moved from NPS to its current location. In 1993, the current title Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) was adopted. In 2005, Fleet Numerical was realigned under Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (NMOC). In 2008, Fleet Numerical was assigned the mission of 24X7 Global Submarine Weather Support (SUBWEAX). In 2011, Fleet Numerical completed a new Computer Operations Center.

FNMOC is one of the DoD's primary central production site for worldwide computer-generated operational meteorological and oceanographic analysis and forecast products.

FNMOC is an echelon IV command aligned under the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (NMOC) and a service provider of U.S. Fleet Forces. FNMOC is co-located with Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Marine Meteorology Division, a representation of successful transition of research into operations. FNMOC maintains close ties with the nearby Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).

FNMOC runs operationally a global numerical weather model called the Navy Global Environmental Model (NAVGEM) which replaced Navy Operational Global Atmospheric Prediction System (NOGAPS) in February 2013.
