Ferrymead 125

Ferrymead 125 was a celebration of 125 years of the New Zealand Railways in New Zealand held in October 1988 in Christchurch.

Over one week shuttle trains hauled by the Canterbury Railway Societys C 864 from the 2nd Christchurch railway station to Ferrymead station at the Ferrymead Heritage Park to Lyttelton. Every evening during the week the Rail Heritage Trust of New Zealands W 192 hauled trains from the Christchurch station to Rangiora and return. During the last weekend three excursion were held: J^A 1250 from the Glenbrook Vintage Railway and J 1211 from the Mainline Steam Heritage Trust from Christchurch to Timaru on the Saturday and Christchurch to Arthurs Pass on the Monday while D^G 772 and D^E 511 (both from the Diesel Traction Group hauled an excursion from Christchurch to Springfield during the same weekend. A cavalcade was held on the Sunday that included 31 as far north as Auckland and far south as Lorneville.
