Superu, also known as the Social Policy Research and Evaluation Unit, is an autonomous New Zealand crown entity that works with families and children. It was established as the Families Commission under the Families Commission Act 2003 and the Crown Entities Act 2004. In December 2014, it was restructured and revamped as Superu under the Families Commission Amendment Act 2014.
Its purpose is to increase the use of evidence by people across the New Zealand social sector so that they can make better decisions - about funding, policies and services - to improve the lives of New Zealanders. Superu also manages the Hub, a website of social science research published by the New Zealand government.
