False Prophets were a New York City punk rock/hardcore punk band formed in 1980. The original members were Stephan Ielpi (vocals), bassist Steve Wishnia (bass), Peter Campbell (guitar) and Matt Superty (drums).
False Prophets released their debut single, "Blind Obedience", in June 1981 on their own Worn Out Brothers label, followed by "Good Clean Fun" in 1982.
The band signed with Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles label in 1986, releasing two albums: False Prophets (1986) and Implosion (1987).
