Excelsior Editions is a trade imprint of SUNY Press that was started in 2008. It is located in Albany, New York.

The name Excelsior Editions was chosen to signify the imprint's connection to the peoples, histories, and natural beauty of New York State. The imprint publishes popular works for all readers and also showcases the diversity of New York State and the surrounding regions. Its mission is as follows: "Bringing New York State to the world. . . and the world back home." [1] Excelsior Editions Mission Statement].

Black Elk Speaks, as told to John Neihardt, and Hudson Valley Voyage were two of the first books to be published by Excelsior Editions.

Go, Tell Michelle was edited, designed, and printed on an accelerated schedule in early January, 2009 in order to be available in time for the Presidential Inauguration. The book was reviewed by Kam Williams for the African American Literature Book Club and he concluded:

An impressive compendium of eloquent messages which together paint a touching tapestry reflecting the depth of sisters’ emotional investment in our new First Lady.

In 2010 the imprint released books across a wide spectrum of subjects and styles, from coffee table books to cookbooks to memoirs to novels. Some examples of offerings from 2010 include Castles of New York, a coffee table book replete with photos and text of nearly 30 castles throughout New York state; "Cooking with Chef Silvo", which offers Italian recipes from Campania; and "Arsenic and Clam Chowder", a tale of murder in Gilded Age New York.
