Elk Rapids Township is a civil township of Antrim County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,631 at the 2010 census. The village of Elk Rapids is located within the township.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 11.0 square miles (28.4 km2), of which 7.1 square miles (18.3 km2) is land and 3.9 square miles (10.1 km2), or 35.41%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,741 people, 1,206 households, and 811 families residing in the township. The population density was 385.3 per square mile (148.8/km²). There were 1,763 housing units at an average density of 247.8 per square mile (95.7/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.67% White, 0.22% African American, 0.80% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.90% of the population.
There were 1,206 households out of which 26.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.1% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.78.
