Elizabeth Township is a township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 13,271 at the 2010 census. Elizabeth Township (along with Pitt(sburgh), Plum, Versailles, St. Clair, Moon, & Mifflin) was one of the original seven townships of Allegheny County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 23.0 square miles (60 km2), of which 22.5 square miles (58 km2) is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2), or 1.96%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 13,839 people, 5,467 households, and 4,105 families residing in the township. The population density was 610/sq mi (240/km2). There were 5,678 housing units at an average density of 250/sq mi (100/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 97.36% White, 1.69% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.
There were 5,467 households, out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.5% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% were non-families. 22.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.92.
