"Election Night" is the first episode and season premiere of the seventh season of the anthology television series American Horror Story. It aired on September 5, 2017, on the cable network FX. The episode was written by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, and directed by Bradley Buecker.
American Horror Story is one of the more popular shows being aired today with each season having a different theme. The premiere episode introduces a new plot for this season revolving around the aftermath of the 2016 United States presidential election.
Ally Mayfair-Richards (Sarah Paulson), her wife Ivy (Alison Pill), their son Oz, and their friends are watching, in horror, as Donald Trump is announced President of the United States. Meanwhile, Kai Anderson (Evan Peters), watching alone in his basement, is delighted by the news. His sister Winter (Billie Lourd), having worked for Hillary Clinton's campaign, is devastated. Kai goes to Winter's room to gloat. Winter expresses her fear and Kai contentedly notes that everyone is afraid.
Next, a couple prepares to have sex in the woods. Twisty the Clown appears and subsequently slaughters both of them. This scene is revealed to be a story from a comic Oz is reading, which, when found by Ally, sends her into a panic attack due to her fear of clowns. Ivy takes the comic away from Oz. Ally speaks with her therapist Dr. Rudy Vincent (Cheyenne Jackson) about her fears (claustrophobia, haemophobia, and trypophobia). He suggests anti-anxiety medication.
