Eduard Sharmazanov (Armenian:Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը; born May 8, 1975) is an Armenian politician of Greek descent. Since 12 June 2011 he is the Vice President of the National Assembly. After 2017 Armenian parliamentary election, on 18 May 2017 he was re-elected on this position. Since 2011 he is the spokesperson of Republican Party of Armenia.
In 1997 he graduated from Kh. Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University - division of history of the Historical-Geographical faculty. In 2000 he was a post-graduate student of the Chair of the History of Armenia of the Armenian State Pedagogical University. In 2006 Sharmazanov also finished studies at the Moscow School of Political Researches under the auspices of the Council of Europe. He is a candidate of pedagogical sciences. The topic - “Garegin Nzhdeh’s Pedagogical Views.” He is the author of a number of scientific; journalistic articles and the author of the monologue “Garegin Nzhdeh and the Key Issues of Military Pedagogics.”
In 1995 he founded the “Zartonk” student Union in Alaverdi. In 1997-1999 he was the head of the Students’ Scientific Association of the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute (ASPI.) In 1999-2002 he worked in the educational complex # 159 as a teacher. In 2002-2005 he was the Chairman of the Students’ Board of the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute, Rector’s assistant, lecturer in the chair of Armenian History in Armenian State Pedagogical University, and Deputy Chairman of the Youth Organization of the Republican Party of Armenia. In 2005-2007 he was the Prime Minister’s aide.
On May 12, 2007 he was elected a Member of the National Assembly by proportional system from the Republican Party of Armenia. He is the head of the division of the Press and Public Relations of the Republican Party of Armenia.
On December 6, 2011 he was elected Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Eduard Sharmazanov was honored with several awards.
2003 - Prime Minister’s letter of thanks and prize for his enthusiastic activity in political activity in RA Youth political field.
