Edison Awards is grand annual award presenting ceremony for people in Tamil film industry, who have made landmarks and milestones for the History of Tamil Cinema since 2009. "Edison Awards" is mainly named after the Inventor of Cinema "Thomas Alva Edison". The uniqueness of the show is mainly that, it has a vast reach in about seven countries Tamil televisions, with main broadcaster as Astro in Malaysia.

The Event is mainly organised and hosted by MyTamilMovie.com. The free-lance sponsors in the recent years are Jet Airways, Videocon, etc.

Nominations were announced in early January 2016, though as several artists who were nominated did not turn up for the awards ceremony, the winners of several categories were not announced. Subsequently various uncategorised awards were given to other attendees.
