Eastleigh College in Eastleigh, Hampshire is a further education college providing technical and professional training and Apprenticeships to school leavers, in addition to part-time professional courses and part-time leisure courses for adults.
The college is in the top 10% of general further education colleges nationally and is a Beacon College, recognised for the high standards of teaching and achievement. The College was inspected by Ofsted in May 2012 and was awarded the highest result of "Outstanding"—an accolade which has only been achieved by one other General Further Education College nationally in the same year and just six GFE Colleges in the South East since inspection began in 1993.
In 2011 Eastleigh College was awarded Outstanding by Ofsted for its College House facility, along with the Customer Service Excellence Standard. The College is also recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the Best Places to Work in the Public/Third Sector in 2011 and received star recognition for great work practices and employee care by the workplace engagement specialists Best Companies in 2012.
The college is committed to working in partnership with a range of organisations, groups and employers in the community.Through its extensive partnership work, the college works with over 1,100 employers in the region, contributing to both the economic development of the local community and the regional agenda for wealth creation and employability.
With over 9,000 apprentices in learning, the college was named the third largest college provider of adult Apprenticeships in England in 2014/15 (in terms of funding).
The College has recently undergone a £12 million redevelopment project, which includes a new training kitchen and professional restaurant, East Avenue, for Catering students; new facilities for Art, Design & Media; new training salons and a commercial Hair & Beauty Salon, Avenue, for Hair and Beauty students; and a new Advanced Technology Centre with facilities for Computer Science, Construction and Engineering.
The College gym and fitness studio have also been refurbished, and are open to staff and students to use. The fitness studio offers a variety of lunchtime and evening activities, including spinning, circuits and table tennis.
