East Wind: War in the Pacific is a 2016 novel by Eamon McCarthy Earls on a hypothetical future war between China and the United States over Taiwan.

The war begins with a Chinese airstrikes on Taipei and Kaohsiung, followed by an air and amphibious invasion of the island. As the US scrambles to respond, redeploying its fleet from the annual RIMPAC exercises near Hawaii, China finances terrorists to block the Panama Canal and slow reinforcements. China launches cyberattacks against the US and air strikes against Vietnam, at Cam Ranh Bay, to seize control of disputed islands in the South China Sea. The Chinese use DF-21 missiles to attack and harass US ships and deny the US Navy access to Taiwan.
