Andrew Alfred Scott was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Drew Scott is the youngest of three boys, including JD and his identical twin brother, Jonathan. His father, Jim Scott, worked in the film industry as an actor and assistant director until the late 70s, when he decided to leave to focus on raising his family. Drew's mother, Joanne Scott, worked as a paralegal in downtown Vancouver. Scott and brother Jonathan started their first business when they were just 7 years old. As a youth, he was active in the performing arts, participating in community and school theater programs and originally wanted to pursue as a career. Instead, he became a real estate agent and founded Scott Real Estate, while at first acting, directing, and producing on the side.
At a young age, Scott began acting in theater, improv and sketch comedy, which helped him prepare for the often goofy brotherly banter that the boys exhibit on their HGTV shows. His acting gigs have included roles on Smallville, Breaker High, and Madison Meanwhile, he and Jonathan began investing in real estate at the age of 18. During his time at University of Calgary, long-time athlete Scott studied Kinesiology. Scott acquired his Real Estate license and launched Scott Real Estate in both Calgary and British Columbia. The twins renovated and flipped properties for the next fifteen years, until they caught the eye of a TV production team in Canada that filmed their pilot for Property Brothers, which was then picked up by HGTV.
While running their real estate company, the twins also launched Scott Brothers Entertainment, a TV, film and digital production company with offices in the US and Canada.
Drew co-hosts the hit shows Property Brothers (2011–present), Buying and Selling (2012–present), and Brother vs. Brother (2013–present) with his twin, Jonathan.
