Drew Lynch is a stand-up comedian known for his severe stutter. He appeared on the tenth season of America's Got Talent and finished in second place. He is a regular content contributor to YouTube—often featuring his service dog Stella in his videos—with his channel having over 700,000 subscribers and 28 million views.
Born in Indiana and raised in Las Vegas, Lynch graduated high school with aspirations of becoming a fully articulate film actor in Los Angeles. At age 19 at a company softball game, Lynch got hit in the throat causing some vocal trauma and fell asleep unknowingly suffering a concussion. Upon waking the next day he had a stutter.(pxy106.iheart.com radio interview 04/28/17).With this life-changing injury and passion for writing and performing stand up, he began bringing to life the social hardships of dealing with a speech impediment.
Lynch's audition consisted of joking about how his stutter affected his working at a drive-thru and voicing a GPS system, "in 1 thousand feet make a a a a a a U-turn". Moved by his performance, Howie Mandel pressed his Golden Buzzer to send Lynch straight to the Quarterfinals. Lynch's Week 1 Quarterfinals performance consisted of joking about having a service dog (and expecting a magic chihuahua), answering for his dog, and his cat having Tourette's syndrome (possibly a reference to his colleague Samuel Comroe). Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel gave him standing ovations. Lynch received enough votes to be sent to the Semifinals along with Paul Zerdin, instead of Showproject. Lynch's Week 1 Semifinals performance consisted of joking about his talking on the phone sounding like a bad reception and a woman, trying to pay off his bills two weeks late, and him sounding like he is telling someone he is pregnant. Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel gave Lynch standing ovations. Lynch received enough votes to be sent to the Finals instead of Siro-A. Lynch's Finals performance consisted of lacking conviction in his voice, spending too much time giving his phone number to his girlfriend, and his girlfriend's bust. Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel gave him standing ovations. For the finale, Lynch attempted to roast Gary Vider. When guest Jeffrey Ross insisted that they were too nice, Jeffrey roasted both the comedians and the judges. Lynch and Gary then retorted by roasting Jeffrey. Lynch was revealed to be in the Top 5 instead of Gary Vider. Lynch was revealed to have finished in second place in the competition, in front of Oz Pearlman, Stevie Starr, and The CraigLewis Band, but behind Paul Zerdin.
