Dover is a town in Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,410 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.3 square miles (91.4 km2), all land. The Rock River and the North Branch of the Deerfield River have their sources in the town.
This climatic region is typified by large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to hot (and often humid) summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Dover has a humid continental climate, abbreviated "Dfb" on climate maps.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,410 people, 611 households, and 372 families residing in the town. The population density was 39.9 people per square mile (15.4/km2). There were 2,749 housing units at an average density of 77.9 per square mile (30.1/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.66% White, 0.07% African American, 1.06% Asian, 0.35% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.21% of the population.
There were 611 households out of which 27.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% were non-families. 29.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.86.
