Djinet is a town and commune in Boumerdès Province, Algeria. According to the 1998 census it has a population of 20,022.

In Roman times, Djinet was called Cissi and was situated in the Roman province of Mauretania Caesariensis. Ptolemy called it Κισσή. It appears also in the Tabula Peutingeriana.

In the 19th century, the ruins of a 4th or 5th-century Christian church could still be easily distinguished at Cape Djinet, but little trace now remains.

In 484, Bishop Reparatus of Cissi was one of the Catholic bishops whom the Arian Vandal king Huneric summoned to Carthage and then exiled.

At the earlier Conference of Carthage in 411 between Catholic and Donatist bishops, Cissi was represented only by a Donatist bishop named Flavosus. The Latin adjective referring to Cissi, Cissitanus, is applied to him in the account of that conference. In the 19th century, Morcelli took the adjective Cessitanus to refer to Cissi, and supposed instead that the name of the Cissi bishop at the conference was Quodvultdeus.

No longer a residential bishopric, Cissi is today listed by the Catholic Church as a titular see.
