Dil Jo Bhi Kahey... (Hindi: दिल जो भी कहे..., in Whatever The Heart Says) is a Bollywood film released in 2005. It is directed by Romesh Sharma who is best known for having produced Hum (1991). Amitabh Bachchan, Revathi, Karan Sharma, Bhoomika Chawla, Annabelle Wallis, Malcolm Stoddard and Claire Oberman star in the film. It was movie debut for Karan Sharma, who is also the director's son. The film is a remake of Romesh Sharma's Mauritian serial titled C'est La Vie, also featuring Karan Sharma as the main male protagonist and was broadcast on Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation in Mauritius in 2003.
Shekhar Sinha (Amitabh Bachchan), his wife Sandhaya (Revathi) and their son Jai (Karan Sharma) are one of the many Indian families living in Mauritius.
Jai ventures out to to obtain education in culinary studies and incidentally meets Sophie Besson (Annabelle Wallis), a Roman Catholic Franco-Mauritian. They start meeting regularly and soon fall in love. Jai is introduced to Sophie's parents, Norman and Claire Besson (Malcolm Stoddard and Claire Oberman). Norman (a previous slave master) instantly disapproves of him (because of his ethnicity). Jai feels his father and mother would approve of Sophie. Unfortunately Sandhaya disapproves her (because of her Catholic faith) and tells Jai to end his relationship with her.
