Deosar (Devsar) is a town and tehsil in Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is also an industrial hub. Deosar Tehsil is located on N.H. 75. It is also a Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, part of the Sidhi Lok Sabha constituency.
Deosar belongs to Rewa Division. It is located 55 km towards west from District headquarters Singrauli and 592 km from State capital Bhopal towards east. Deosar Tehsil is bounded by Sihawal Tehsil towards North, Chitrangi Tehsil towards East, Sidhi Tehsil towards West, Singrauli Tehsil towards East.
Sidhi city, Singrauli city, Rewa city, Renukoot are the nearby cities to Deosar. Deosar consists of 217 villages and 98 panchayats. It is at 394 m elevation(altitude). Vindhyachal, Rewa, mada caves, Allahabad, Varanasi (Benares) are the nearby important tourist destinations.
Till 2008, it was part of the Sidhi district which was bifurcated to create Singrauli district (which is created by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ) tehsils, Singrauli, Chitrangi,and Deosar but in 2012, two new tehsils Sarai and Mada were added. It is also known as Bijaura District. Its headquarter is approximately 50 km from Deosar, which has road connectivity. Deosar Railway Station is under construction in Harra village, near Tehsil headquarter Deosar.
Bagheli is the local Language here. People also speak Hindi and English.
