As of the census of 2010, there were 5,025 people, 1,834 households, and 1,336 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,878.6 inhabitants per square mile (1,883.6/km2). There were 1,978 housing units at an average density of 1,920.4 per square mile (741.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 18.0% White, 79.2% African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 0.3% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.8% of the population.
