Decatur City is a city in Decatur County, Iowa, United States. The population was 197 at the 2010 census.

Decatur City was the first county seat of Decatur County, until 1853, when the seat was transferred to Leon.

Decatur City was incorporated in 1875.

Decatur City is located at 40°44′32″N 93°49′58″W / 40.74222°N 93.83278°W / 40.74222; -93.83278 (40.742268, -93.832735).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.40 square miles (1.04 km2), all of it land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 197 people, 78 households, and 53 families residing in the city. The population density was 492.5 inhabitants per square mile (190.2/km2). There were 91 housing units at an average density of 227.5 per square mile (87.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.9% White, 0.5% Native American, 1.0% Asian, and 2.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.0% of the population.

There were 78 households of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.6% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.1% had a male householder with no wife present, and 32.1% were non-families. 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.08.
