Deboshree Chowdhury

Deboshree Choudhary is Secretary of West Bengal State Unit of Bharatiya Janata Party. She resides at Balurghat in Dakshin Dinajpur. She contested 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Bardhaman-Durgapur seat of West Bengal.

On 16 December 2016, Choudhary was arrested along with Baisnabnagar MLA Swadhin Kumar Sarkar and other local BJP leaders at a protest condemning comments made by Maulauna Noor-ur Rahman Barkati, the Shahi Iman of the Tipu Sultan Mosque in Kolkata. Barakati said that Dilip Ghosh, the leader of the West Bengal BJP, should be "pelted with stones and kicked out of Bengal" after Ghosh made a remark about Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banarjee by saying that his party could have “dragged” her “by the hair” when she was in New Delhi, but had chosen not to. The BJP claimed that Ghosh was allegedly injured during the protests by the police who tried to stop the protest.
