David Waters (Australian actor)


David A. Waters (born 1948, Braintree, Essex) is a film, television and stage actor born in the United Kingdom. His family moved to London from Essex and his father, a monumental mason and sculptor, was employed renovating the war damage done to the figurines of St Paul's Cathedral. In 1969 Waters began a career in journalism at Country Life Magazine and then NME. In 1969 the family migrated to Brisbane, Australia where he began his performing arts career at La Boite Theatre then joining The Queensland Theatre Company and Twelfth Night Theatre Company in 1970.

He has appeared in leading roles in Equus, Da and The Imaginary Invalid and in several musicals including Expresso Bongo with Toni Lamond, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown-The Musical with Geoffrey Rush, Lock Up Your Daughters with Geraldine Turner, The Fantasticks with Tony Sheldon and in Pride and Prejudice as Mr. Bingley, The Promise, Hot'l Baltimore and Don's Party with Barry Otto. He performed at Sydney Theatre Company in the musical Falsettos with Simon Burke, John O'May and Gina Riley. He has also performed at The Marian Street Theatre Sydney in "Sailor Beware" with Maggie Kirkpatrick and Judi Farr and has performed leading roles in plays with other Australian theatre companies including The Tasmanian Theatre Company and at The Music Hall, Neutral Bay Sydney.
