Danny Dupont


Danny Dupont (born July 19, 1975 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey player. Dupont was most recently the head coach of Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He is a former ninth-round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). Dupont is the son of former NHL player Andre Dupont.

Dupont was born July 19, 1975 in Trois-Rivières between ice hockey seasons while his family was in Quebec, but spent the first five years of his life in Philadelphia while his father played for the Philadelphia Flyers. He moved to Quebec City when his father was traded to the Quebec Nordiques.

After his first season with Laval Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Dupont was selected in the ninth round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators. Dupont played three seasons of major junior hockey until 1996. Dupont played the final 19 games of the 1994–95 season with the Thunder Bay Senators minor pro affiliate of Ottawa. He was not re-signed by Ottawa.

Dupont coached youth hockey, most notably for Lac St-Louis Lions, and the Quebec Under-17 team until he moved up to the major junior ranks. Dupont became an assistant coach with Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in 2004–05. He joined Shawinigan Cataractes as an assistant for the 2010–11 season. Dupont was an assistant when Shawinigan won the 2012 Memorial Cup. He was an assistant coach with Rimouski Oceanic in 2012–13 when he was signed as a mid-season replacement head coach for Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Dupont was head coach of the Titan until January 19, 2014 when he was relieved of his duties. He was hired by the London Knights, the team the Cataractes defeated in the 2012 Memorial Cup final, as assistant coach on April 24, 2014 to assist in their playoff run.
