Croatia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany, selecting their entry through the national selection Dora 2011 - Let's go to Eurovision!, organised by Croatian broadcaster Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT).
The nineteenth edition of Dora in 2011 is set to move from its traditional home in Opatija, a small town on the Adriatic Coast, to the capital Zagreb, because a Dora in Zagreb would be a lot less expensive to hold.
Having observed this year's winner from Germany, HRT has decided to choose a representative in the same way that the Germans chose Lena Meyer-Landrut.
Entrants must be Croatian citizens aged 16 or over. HRT stress that the contest is open to unknown acts as well as big names from the Croatian showbiz scene.
Dora 2011 will consist of seven programmes, in which entrants will perform songs live. In the first and second programmse twelve acts will participate and six will be eliminated according to a public vote. In the third programme the twelve participants with the most votes from the first two programmes will compete. In the fourth programme six acts will compete, the two of which get the least votes will be eliminated. In both the fifth and sixth programme, one act will be eliminated.
Only viewers will be able to vote in the first six shows. The first show will take place on 22 January and the big final on 5 March. In the final show two acts will compete, and will sing three songs put forward by HRT by famous Croatian songwriters. The result will decided by a 50/50 jury/televote.
On 21 December, HRT announced the 24 participants and 2 back ups for Dora 2011.
The participants are:
Maksim Hozić and Marina Đurović are the back ups.
The final of Dora 2011 was held on 5 March 2010 at the Studio 10 Anton Marti in Zagreb. Two artists qualified for the final. The Finalists performed a total of three songs: "Lahor", "Stotinama godinama" and "Još ima nas". There was a total of two voting rounds. The song from each singer was determined in the first round, while the final winner was selected in the second round.
In the jury were Hrvoje Hegedušić, Hrid Matić, Branka Muvrin, Zvonimir Bučević, Želimir Babogredac and Željen Klašterka.
Croatia competed thirteenth on the first semi-final of the contest, on 10 May. The performance featured two outfit changes. Croatia placed fifteenth with 41 points and didn't pass to the final.
