Courtételle is a municipality in the district of Delémont in the canton of Jura in Switzerland.
Courtételle is first mentioned in 1178 as Curtetele.
Courtételle has an area of 13.57 km2 (5.24 sq mi). Of this area, 7.55 km2 (2.92 sq mi) or 55.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 4.87 km2 (1.88 sq mi) or 35.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.11 km2 (0.43 sq mi) or 8.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.04 km2 (9.9 acres) or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.1% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.3%. Out of the forested land, 32.9% of the total land area is heavily forested and 3.0% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 31.8% is used for growing crops and 14.4% is pastures and 8.5% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The municipality is located in the Delemont district, above Delemont on the right bank of the Sorne river. It consists of the village of Courtételle and a number of scattered hamlets and farm houses.
The municipalities of Bourrignon, Châtillon, Courrendlin, Courtételle, Delémont, Ederswiler, Mettembert, Movelier, Pleigne, Rebeuvelier, Rossemaison and Vellerat are considering a merger on at a date in the future into the new municipality with an, as of 2011[update], undetermined name.
