Copernic Desktop Search is a free and commercial desktop search utility for the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems.
Copernic Desktop Search performs a search using file names, file contents and metadata based on an index it creates. As items are added, changed or removed from the computer, incremental indexing is performed in the background using idle system resources.
The product once included a deskbar to provide an input area on the Windows Taskbar, but that functionality was removed in version 4. It was replaced by a shorcut: Press CTRL twice.
As of version 6.0, there were two editions, the standard one and a "Lite" one. The "lite" edition was free for non-commercial use, and did not support network or external hard drive indexing, Outlook appointments, tasks, and notes indexing, saved searches and find-as-you-type.
As of January 2017, Copernic's website shows only the standard, paid edition of Version 5.
