Conewago Township is a township in Adams County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,085 at the 2010 census.
Conewago Township is located along the eastern edge of Adams County, adjacent to the borough of Hanover in neighboring York County. Conewago Township completely surrounds the borough of McSherrystown.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 10.5 square miles (27.2 km2), of which 10.4 square miles (27.0 km2) is land and 0.077 square miles (0.2 km2), or 0.62%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 5,709 people, 2,128 households, and 1,655 families residing in the township. The population density was 545.4 people per square mile (210.5/km²). There were 2,189 housing units at an average density of 209.1/sq mi (80.7/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.92% White, 0.53% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.77% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.58% of the population.
There were 2,128 households, out of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.9% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.2% were non-families. 17.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.03.
