Chrome orange

Chrome orange is a range of orange pigments, which consists of lead(II) chromate and lead(II) oxide. Its composition is Pb₂CrO₅.

Chrome orange can be made by treating lead(II) salts with an alkaline solution of chromate in a basic solution. It can also be produced by treating chrome yellow (PbCrO₄) with strongly basic solution.

It was used in the past as a pigment in paints.
