The Chhattisgarh Police is the law enforcement agency for the state of Chhattisgarh in India.
Chhattisgarh police has a total 18 armed Battalions (CAF) including 9 India Reserve Bns. The IPS cadre has a strength of 103. The working set up has been divided into four ranges viz Durg, Bilaspur, Surguja and Bastar and the capital city's Raipur district is directly supervised by IG Police Intelligence. Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs) are used in the heavily mined areas of Naxal influence. The total number of sanctioned Police Stations was 392 in March 2010. The force also has an automated Finger Print Bureau.
Chhattisgarh Police officials receive training at the State Training Academy at Mana P.T.S & Chandkhuri ACADEMY in the state. State also has a Counter Terrorism and Jungle Warfare (CTJW) college in Kanker to provide them specialised training.
Chhattisgarh Police comes under direct control of Department of Home Affairs, Government of Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh Police is headed by Director General of Police (DGP). A.N Upadhyay is the 8th and current DGP of the state.
The Chhattisgarh Police department's website was hacked in September 2015 by a Pakistani Hacker named Rummy Khan[1] [2]. The state government ordered the shutdown of the website and it displayed the message, "This Site is under maintenance. We are sorry for the inconvenience." until it was restored.
