Chestonia Township is a civil township of Antrim County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 511 at the 2010 census. From 1901 to 1932, the junction of the East Jordan and Southern and the Detroit & Charlevoix railroads lay within the township.
Chestonia Township was organized in 1874.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.5 square miles (92.0 km2), of which 35.3 square miles (91.4 km2) is land and 0.27 square miles (0.7 km2), or 0.72%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 546 people, 199 households, and 145 families residing in the township. The population density was 15.4 per square mile (5.9/km²). There were 309 housing units at an average density of 8.7 per square mile (3.4/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 92.31% White, 0.92% African American, 2.20% Native American, 1.10% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 3.11% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.55% of the population.
There were 199 households out of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% were non-families. 22.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.17.
