Chengdu-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway is a high-speed railway partly operational and partly under construction in South West China. It is considered to connect the capitals and major population centres of Sichuan and Guangdong via Guizhou and eastern Guangxi. A connecting railway (Chongqing–Guizhou High-Speed Railway) will allow services to travel between Chongqing and the south. Starting in Chengdu, it travels via Guiyang and Guilin before reaching Guangzhou. Some services travel further onto Shenzhen, bordering with Hong Kong, on the GZ-SZ-HK Express Rail Link.
First announced in the 11th Five Year Plan by the Chinese government. It is designed to serve as a rapid rail link between the southwest China and the Pearl River Delta. The full route of 1,376 km (855 mi) has been split into two smaller projects. The northern Chengdu–Guiyang High-Speed Railway and the southern Guiyang–Guangzhou High-Speed Railway respectively.
Chengdu–Guiyang High-Speed Railway is a 519 km (322 mi) major trunk high speed railway between the Sichuan capital of Chengdu and the Guizhou capital of Guiyang. Construction started in 2010 and is expected to be completed by 2014. A connection on this line will also reach Chongqing via the Chongqing–Guizhou High-Speed Railway.
