Chelakkara is a small town in Thrissur district of Kerala.

Some nearby villages are Pangarappilly,Killimangalam,Venganellur, and Thonoorkara.In Chelakkara, there is a place called ' Gramam' wherein Brahmin community was staying in a cluster.

Anthimakaalan Kavu (temple) Vela (festival) is celebrated in a grant manner with festivities and five spectacular fireworks show, which starts around midnight and ends early morning the next day. People from all over Kerala come to see the grand fireworks. Kolathur Ayyappankavu Sree Subhramanya Swami Kshetram, is a famous Muruga temple that is located in Kolathur village in Chelakkara, and Thypooyamaholsavam is the main festival. The panchavaadyam of Chelakkara Desam from this temple on Anthimahakaalan vela is famous. Kolathur also has a chozhi group associated with the temple, which co-ordinate the Chozhi during Thiruvathira festival.
Venganellur village is a beautiful village. At the centre of this village, there are five temples including the Maha Siva temple, Lord Thiruveembilappa, the presiding deity. The temple has a history of more than 300 years. In the earlier days, the temple and the surroundings were under the control of Tamil Brahmins. In the twentieth century more than 100 Brahmin houses, Madoms, were there in this area. (Dr. C.S. Venkitaraman (1918–1994), an eminent mathematician, who was born in one of these Madoms.) The Tamil Brahmins started the famous festival of Ashtami Maholsavam in the temple. Nowadays, it is the most celebrated festival of Chelakkara.AND sri.mariyamman kovil, Chelakkara's one and the famous amman temple.The famous festival of "MARIYAMMAN POOJA MAHOTHSAV".The other temples are Vadasseri Sri Krishna temple, Edathara Krishna Temple, Erupurath Narasimha Murthy Temple of Velanezhy Mana, Thali Siva Temple, Sreekandapuram Mahavishnu Temple, and Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, Kizhakkumuri.
