Chauparan is a town in Chauparan (community development block) of Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is located near the Jharkhand–Bihar border.
Chauparan is located at 24°23′N 85°15′E / 24.38°N 85.25°E. It has an average elevation of 396 metres (1,299 ft).
Chauparan is on NH 19, Grand Trunk Road (old number: NH 2). Tilaiya Dam of Damodar Valley Corporation is about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Chauparan. A road links it to Itkhori and Chatra.
As per 2011 Census of India Chauparan had a population of 5,361. There were 2,691 males and 2,670 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 1,304 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 161.
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Chauparan was 3,428 out of which 1,912 were males and 1,516 were females.
