Chartiers Township is a township in Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,818 at the 2010 census. Along with the borough of Houston the township makes up the Chartiers-Houston School District.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 24.5 square miles (63 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 7,154 people, 2,814 households, and 2,006 families residing in the township. The population density was 291.7 people per square mile (112.6/km²). There were 2,938 housing units at an average density of 119.8/sq mi (46.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 95.40% White, 3.68% African American, 0.03% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.59% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.36% of the population.
There were 2,814 households out of which 26.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 25.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.93.
In the township the population was spread out with 20.5% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 21.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males.
