Carlos Alvarez (born November 12, 1990) is an American soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Orange County SC on loan from Los Angeles FC.
Alvarez attended Bishop Mora Salesian High School in Los Angeles, where he played soccer. He then continued to University of Connecticut, where he continued his soccer career. He majored in Spanish.
On January 17, 2013, Alvarez was selected as the second overall pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft by Chivas USA. On March 17, 2013, Alvarez made his debut for Chivas USA in the MLS against local-rivals, Los Angeles Galaxy, at the Home Depot Center, in which he came in as a half-time substitute for José Erick Correa, and scored the game-tying goal even though Chivas USA had only 10 men.
On July 1, 2014, Alvarez was traded to Colorado Rapids in exchange for Nathan Sturgis.
On February 2, 2016, Alvarez was announced as the first-ever signing by San Antonio FC.
On March 23, 2017, Alvarez was announced as the first-ever signing by Los Angeles FC.
