Campbell is a city in Hunt County, in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 734 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km2).
The town was established in 1880 and was named for Postmaster General, and future Texas Governor, Thomas Mitchell Campbell.
As of the 2000 census, there were 734 people, 284 households, and 209 families residing in the city. The population density was 320.4 people per square mile (123.8/km²). There were 308 housing units at an average density of 134.4 per square mile (51.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.19% White, 0.82% African American, 1.63% Native American, 2.45% from other races, and 1.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.36% of the population.
There were 284 households out of which 32.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.4% were non-families. 23.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.08.
In the city, the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males.
