California's 16th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California, located in the central San Joaquin Valley.
The district is currently represented by Democrat Jim Costa.
The district currently includes areas of Fresno County, Madera County, and Merced County.
It represents the cities of Los Banos, Madera, and Merced, and part of Fresno.
From 2003 to 2013, the 16th district covered part of Santa Clara County, and included much of central San Jose.
As of April 2015[update], there are four former members of the U.S. House of Representatives from California's 16th congressional district that are currently living. The most recent representative to die was Burt Talcott (1963-1977) on July 29, 2016.
