Burr and Burton Academy is an independent, coeducational New England secondary school that serves as the school of choice for 680 students from Manchester and thirteen surrounding communities as well as over 60 students from overseas. Countries represented typically are China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Bolivia and Mexico.

Situated at the foot of Mt. Equinox and overlooking picturesque Manchester Village, Burr and Burton is a school with a proud tradition of educating students of diverse backgrounds and talents in a warm and caring environment that encourages excellence and community.

The trustees and faculty of Burr and Burton are dedicated to upholding the highest academic standards while at the same time seeking the integrated development of all students through aesthetic appreciation, athletic competition, physical well-being and technological competency.

BBA has 3 satellite campuses, Target, Hildene and Mountain Campuses.

Burr and Burton Academy’s Mountain Campus building is now LEED® Platinum Certified, the highest level of green building given by the U.S. Green Building Council and received the Gov.'s award for environmental excellence. All electricity provided by hydro and solar power; all buses powered by biodiesel; hand dryers have replaced paper towels; water bottle filling stations have saved thousands of plastic bottles...and counting.

Established in 1829, the school is committed to educating students of diverse backgrounds and talents. The school strives to widen its cultural breadth by attracting students from various ethnic, racial, socioeconomic and geographic backgrounds.

Tuition varies from local commuting students which are paid for by the sending town. Tuition for the 2016-2017 school year is $16,250 for students in our sending towns and $17,250 for students who do not reside in a sending town. International tuition is $43,900 for a boarding international student requiring ESL support.

Outside activities include 19 varsity sports, musical and dramatic presentations, 48 clubs, leadership and service opportunities. Over 85 percent of students participate in after-school activities.

Athletics, physical fitness, and sportsmanship are emphasized. In addition to physical education classes, students have the opportunity to participate in 19 interscholastic sports programs. Offering Teams in 19 Sports: Alpine Skiing, Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country Running, Dance, Field Hockey, Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Mountain Biking, Nordic Skiing, Soccer, Softball, Snowboarding, Tennis, Track and Wrestling. Club Sports: Equestrian, Iron, Pointe, Rock Climbing, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball.

The school is a member of the Marble Valley League and competes statewide in Division I/II. Many of the coaches are also classroom teachers.
