Buckten is a municipality in the district of Sissach in the canton of Basel-Country in Switzerland.

Buckten is first mentioned in 1266 as Butuchon.

Buckten has an area, as of 2009, of 1.99 square kilometers (0.77 sq mi). Of this area, 0.99 km2 (0.38 sq mi) or 49.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.65 km2 (0.25 sq mi) or 32.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.34 km2 (0.13 sq mi) or 17.1% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.02 km2 (4.9 acres) or 1.0% is either rivers or lakes.

Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 1.5% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 9.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.5%. Out of the forested land, 31.2% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.5% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 28.1% is used for growing crops and 18.6% is pastures, while 3.0% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.

The municipality is located in the Sissach district, in the upper Homburger on the road to pass over the Unteren Hauenstein.

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Per fess, Sable a Posthorn Or, and Or, a Wheel Sable.

Buckten has a population (as of March 2016) of 705. As of 2008, 11.4% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1997–2007) the population has changed at a rate of 0.6%.

Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (592 or 91.9%), with Italian language being second most common (12 or 1.9%) and Albanian being third (11 or 1.7%). There are 3 people who speak French and people who speak Romansh.
